Denise Cornell — What I’m Doing Now

Storytelling.
I debuted my new story, The Red Tractor, at Testify Austin in May.
I’m so damn proud of this story — the writing of it and having lived it — and I intend to bring it to bigger and bigger audiences.
Personal.
Half-marathon training is in full swing. I’m walking because my running days are behind me. Let me just say that 13 miles is a long-ass way.
I’m up to 10 miles, and my feet hate me. On the other hand, my tummy is in love with the new Saturday morning taco and coffee habit after early morning group training sessions.
Behind the scenes at work.
I have a long-needed, much agonized over, so glad it’s done website for my consulting work.
I’ve spent the last 18 months stress testing the process I’ve developed over 20+ years. I wanted needed to intentionally see just how far I could push this model that I first developed with B2B software clients.
I expanded to brands-of-one — service providers like coaches and copywriters, visual artists, authors, and jewelry makers. Then I ventured into the ‘online space’ with folks who are doing courses, masterminds, and digital products. Most surprising for me was working with a luxury clothing brand.
What I learned: (1) This ‘thing I do’ works across industries, vertical markets, company sizes, business models, etc. (2) It’s no accident. I’ve spent years observing, learning, chasing theories, experimenting, failing, and trying again.
What I was reminded of: I love having a variety of clients and never want that to change. Software start-ups, however, might be my one true love. There is just something about the spirit of a small group of really smart, dedicated people committed to eloquently solving complex problems with code.
