Books, books, books
Hmph.
I haven’t read much in the last couple years.
That’s quite a statement for a person who easily spends more money on books than clothes. There’s so much going on in my head it feels like there’s no room to fully absorb and enjoy a book.
When the tide turns, these are a few of the books at the top of my stacks.
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Kimmerer. (Kimmerer taught Biology at Centre College when I was a student there. While I avoided the science buildings as much as possible, many friends still sing Kimmerer’s praises as a professor.)
Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver. I swoon for Kingsolver.
Alchemy: The Dark Art and Curious Science of Creating Magic in Brands, Business, and Life by Rory Sutherland
Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art by James Nestor
Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown
Art of Memoir by Mary Karr. Need an intro to Mary Karr? This will do it. I’m mesmerized by her storytelling and her East Texas accent.
The Liars’ Club by Mary Karr
How to Live by Derek Sivers
